The background footage of the cardboard model was played back on a TV in order to figure out how the actor and the Face Cam (operated by DP Jackson Eagan) would need to move in relation to the Model Cam. This test drove home the need for shooting everything in real time, as using prerecorded background footage would make it too difficult for the actor to gauge when to make certain moves. In this clip, director Masa Gibson can be heard guiding co-producer and production designer Abby J. Smith verbally through all the moves while her back is to the screen.
