The model build was moved out of the East Village apartment into a larger space; corrugated cardboard was traded in for white-coated hardboard, which was painted to simulate various types of surfaces. To bring the model to life, production designer Abby J. Smith and assistant art director Chelsea Norwich decorated it with various miniature "set pieces", and DP Jackson Eagan and Smith worked with gaffer Michael Sutter to light it. A couple of days before the shoot, director Masa Gibson and Eagan trained the Model Cam operator, Justin Newhouse, on all of the Model Cam moves.
