Production designer Abby J. Smith designed and constructed a rough cardboard prototype of the courthouse model, which was used to create a video storyboard for the moving background that would be captured by the Model Cam. This footage was shot by DP Jackson Eagan in a one-bedroom apartment in the East Village. For this test, director Masa Gibson was temporarily demoted to "structural support element".
